The reason the Farmers Hotel at Vacy is on that loop road setback from the main one is because before the Vacy bridge was put in, the original main road used to go straight past the pub and continue to Clarkes Crossing.
This was one of the pearls of knowledge shared on the Vacy Historical walk over the weekend.
