Facilities - Paterson

John Tucker Park

about: Located beside the Paterson River, John Tucker Park was named after a local identity who donated land in 1939 to expand the existing public park. Facilities include covered picnic tables, barbecues, and play equipment. It is mostly wheelchair friendly.

about: fishing and picnic spot by the river with a magic view of the rail bridge above. Has public toilets.

Paterson Sportsground Reserve

about: used for a wide range of sports from golf, rugby league, cricket, netball, tennis and boxing. Local schools also use the Paterson Sportsground Reserve for their various sporting events and environmental education. The multipurpose court is open to all and requires no booking. The oval is booked seasonally by cricket and leagues clubs, general use is open to all as long as it does not conflict with club activities, such as Paterson Primary School. Special events can be booked through Zoltan Lyall or Robert Booth.

Paterson Court House Museum

about: Located in the former Court House (c1860s), the museum holds extensive collections including special displays on Dorothy MacKellar, Rev Rupp (orchids), the Tocal murder of 1874 and the only surviving double-sided Manchester Unity Independent Order of Odd Fellows banner. Opens from 11am - 3pm on Sundays.

Tocal Community Pool

about: An outdoor pool for community (not general public) use. Open sunrise to sunset, 7 days a week during the warmer months (typically September to April). No lifeguard. Season and day passes. All the details are in the terms and condition PDF on their website.

Facilities - Vacy

Vacy Oval

about: beautiful little oval with white picket fence, new shelter, change rooms, cricket pitch and nets. Plus it's right next to the pub! It's home to cricket, soccer training, major events and informal 6 a side soccer and touch footy in the warmer months. Available for casual use, as long as it in harmony with the activities of these user groups, including the Vacy Public School.

about: Built in 1901, a beautiful venue for weddings, school functions, private functions and a meeting place. Price is $15/hr or $110 if over 4 hours. Used regularly by the mobile preschool, and dance class and other groups Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

about: Operating for over 24 years (!) and run entirely by volunteers, this beautiful little shop showcases all manner of arts and craft from talented local artisians. They are open 11am till 3pm Saturday and Sundays. Pop in and take a look, they have the most lovely gifts and it's all handmade!

Gresford Arboretum

about: A masterpiece of community collaboration, thanks to the passion and efforts of the Paterson Allyn Garden Group, Gresford District Community Group and Gresford District Landcare. Featuring vibrant murals by Christine Pike, showcasing wildlife such as cockatoos, parrots, and eagles, the Arboretum also offers a gazebo, barbecue area, and natural sculptures for children to explore.
